Terracon Engineers Limited was incorporated on the 12th December 1991. Terracon at that time was focused on the development of the Jamaican telecommunication industry. With the opening up of this market and increase in competition facilitated by the Jamaican government, Terracon with its civil engineering expertise, was able to assist Cable and Wireless Jamaica in expanding its land line network.
As the telecom industry grew in Jamaica with the introduction of Degicel and Centennial, both of whom are mobile service providers. Terracon was again a major player in the expansion, providing structural expertise in the building and equipping of mobile phone towers for Degicel . Now Degicel is the number one mobile provide in Jamaica.
Terracon has grown it’s business since the early days of the telecom expansion, we have built homes under the design-build concept as well as being the primary civil contractor for the Kingston Terminal Operator (KTO) providing drainage network, roadway and surfaces maintenance for deteriorated area that experience damages from the heavy crane equipments used at the Port of Kingston.
Some of Terracon’s other major customer have been Berger Paints Jamaica Limited, the Jamaica Social Investment Fund, The Culture Health Arts and Science and Education Fund. For these and other customers, Terracon has provided services that included resurfacing of roadway furnishing of cupboards and chairs, constructing new and expanding on existing building that were affected by hurricane Ivan.
